Blank virtual 2315 disk cartridges arrived

RK-05 EMULATOR HAS A SMALL BOARD WITH THE MICROSD SOCKET IN A SLOT

George Wiley's RK-05 Emulator, upon which I based the Virtual 2315 Cartridge Facility (V2315CF), has a slot in the front panel into which the user inserts or removes a microSD card containing the image of an RK-05 disk cartridge. I also use a microSD card, although it holds a 2315 cartridge image instead, but I didn't want to have operators have to handle the very tiny microSD cards themselves.

V2315CF HAS A SOCKET EXPOSED IN THE SLOT FOR VIRTUAL CARTRIDGES TO CONNECT

I moved the connector that hooked to George's small PCB containing the microSD card socket, taking out the PCB entirely. The connector now sits at the face of the slot on the box. I built custom PCBs, a 2" diameter object, that have a plug on the edge to insert into the connector.

The PCB has a microSD socket and related components on the bottom side, with the plug facing out at an edge. A plastic cover I designed will fit over the socket and other parts, to make the PCB plus cover look like a miniature 2315 cartridge.

I built a batch of 125, enough to provide virtual cartridges to museums using the V2315CF to support disk operation on their IBM 1130 systems. I have many microSD sockets, plugs and other components to build an initial set from the 125 PCBs, although some of those parts are in the mail to me right now. I was excited to see the box arrive today.
