FINDING A SPRING THAT MATCHES BEHAVIOR OF ONE MEASURED FROM ANOTHER 565
The spring was missing from the plotter that I am restoring, but friends in a museum have one and were kind enough to measure it for me. Armed with the rest length (39mm), the length as it sits in the Calcomp 565 plotter (61 mm) and the force it takes to elongate the spring to that measured length (about 1.5 Kg), I located a spring that delivers that behavior, roughly 1.5 Kg of force when extended to about 60 mm in length. I will install the cables that move the pen carriage and attach them to the spring.
