BUMPER ATTACHED TO TOP OF STACKER WHERE CARD STRIKES ON UPWARD MOVEMENT
The cards being ejected from the reader will curve inside this top piece of the stacker, striking a soft bumper at the end to arrest their motion and send them gently backwards.

BUMPER HOLDER PARTS REMOVED
The bumper consists of a plastic holder that fits under two Allen bolts on the stacker cover. There is a metal plate screwed onto the plastic, holding down a rubbery bumper whose remnants are visible in the picture below.
The substitute I am producing will be glued in place of the metal plate above. It is heavy insulating foam which will have Kapton tape applied to make the surfaces slicker where cards might have to slide.
Funny, our bumper looked different. Ours was a one piece of semi flexible plastics.
