SOLDERED TOGETHER THE PCB AND MOUNTED IT ON THE ARDUINO
I took a few minutes to solder on the 36 resistors, five integrated circuits and the connectors on the PCB for my Console Loader. It plugs directly into the top of the Arduino Mega 2560 which becomes a small sandwich that can be mounted behind the front panel of the 1053 typewriter.
NEXT UP, BUILDING CABLING SO THAT IT CAN BE INSTALLED EASILY
The next time I want a short break, I will build cables with connectors to plug into the Console Loader. The wires will be long enough to reach the spots where they will be attached to an 1130 system. The wires will be protected in a heat shrink tube for easy routing and a neat installation.
One tube will be routed out of the 1053, under the tabletop, and placed under the plate with the keyboard and pushbuttons where it is connected to two switches. Another tube runs inside the 1053 to be connected to the 16 toggle switches on the front panel. The final tube will be connected to the +12V and ground terminals on the main power distribution terminal block.
A USB cable also runs out of the 1053, under the table and back alongside the 1053 and able to be attached to a terminal/PC when the loader is to be used.
