DISASSEMBLY WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION FOR BINDING OR TWISTING
I didn't see anything underneath that was interfering, nor was the unit twisted or torqued in any way. It took it off the 1130 and looked it over.
INVESTIGATION AND DISCOVERY OF THE ISSUE
One of the bail contacts was twisted out of position and touching the normally open counterpart, thus triggering the 1130 to believe there was a key pressed. It must have snagged on a wire as I was installing the keyboard last time.
REPAIRED AND TESTING WITH THE CPU
The keyboard works perfectly now - including the space bar. I ran through all the keys and checked the output Hollerith values just to be certain I didn't introduce a fault during all the repair work. Success!
